Draw Along Club 4: movement and gesture

This is the fourth Draw Along Club video, where we put up a series of reference photos of life models and show ourselves drawing them, and narrate the drawing process.

In this one, we are working out an exercise to help achieve movement and rhythm in our quick drawings. The idea is that in our initial attempts our anxious brains will want to capture lots of details and contrasts, which is not what we are aiming for. So we are going to add a layer on top of the initial attempts, with a stronger colour, where we try to filter out detail even more and really go with the flow.

We talk about what we are doing and what we could improve, including the things we are getting wrong, plus extra tips and techniques.

We use reference photos from the amazing and free resource Croquis Cafe.
